How do you care for natural, unpermed hair?

Congratulations on having natural, unpermed hair!

Just make sure you use a good quality shampoo and conditioner that won't weigh it down. I had a good tip once to do the final rinse with cold water, to make the hair look shiny.

I guess your care will be depending on your style, if you want to straighten it or use a curling iron. Protect it well if you use the heated implements. The shampoo/hair care aisle is absolutely full of things lately, gel, mousse, finishing spray, spray gel, sleekining potions, waxes, stuff for straight hair, stuff for blonde hair, stuff for curly hair..it boggles the mind!

If it's Black hair, wash with a hummectant shampoo, deep condition (Hair Mayonnaise is excellent) after every wash and use a hydrating cream daily. Natural hair needs lots of moisture to stay soft and manageable. This also helps it grow

I have long black hair (waist length). My hair has not been perm for the last 14 years. I used good quality shampoo which contains ginseng and a normal conditioner. But I trimed it every 2 months to avoid stray ends.
