I am in the process of growing out my relaxer. I have been relaxing my hair since I was seven and I havent seen my "real" hair since. I personally think I was brainwashed as a child thinking it would make me more beautiful...when what god gave me was the way to go! I don't want braids or a weave because my growth seems to be comming in nicely without it. So far I have just been deep conditioning, oiling my growth and scalp every oil night with olive oil and blowdrying my hair two to three days out of the month and resting my hair for the remaining days... But I could use some advice....
Blatina From Permed Hair to Natural...Help!!!?

Although I don't have a solid background in ethnic hair, I was trained.
I was also brainwashed, but mine was to be a blonde, blue eyed anerexic.
I cover up alot with headbands, barretes, and other unique hair instruments. I often use one of those small wire headbands backwards and push towards the front and that will give you the ability to hide several inches of roots until you can enjoy what you naturally have.
Another way you can cover, which isn't really the word I want to use is hair extensions. Sally's has almost every color and you can choose between the ones that are glued or the ones with combs that come in and out easily.....
You are doing exactly the right thing. The problems usually lies in patience while growing out.
I hope this is at least mildly helpful....
