I just got highlights and don't really like it. I want to dye it back as close to my natural color as possible without doing too much damage. What brand of hair dye is best for doing this? I don't want to do too much damage. Any advice is much appreciated.

beauty supply shops are better. That is where the professionals get their $2.00 bottles of dye that work better than the $8.00 bottles at the drug store. Talk to the girls, ask if any of them have gone to beauty school - they can help you.

I always use Miss Cariol Nice%26amp;Easy. It looks very close to natural hair color, and it is very gentle on the hair. When you first color it with the color you use, it will look darker than the shade you want. But after a couple of wash, it will be the color you have originally wanted. But try calling the help phone number on the hair dyed you had use before. They do know what to do if you are having problems. Good luck.

Unfortunatley if the highlights are blonde they will be difficult to remove from your hair. Try a hair dye like hydriance which is water based and better for the hair, but only if you really hate the color. I would highly suggest waiting at least a month to re-dye your hair due to the high damage factor because then you may have to cut it as well.

The best thing to do is a semi permanent dye. It will wash out gradually and this way the change isn't to drastic. This only works in some scenarios. I went to get my hair dyed and told my stylist 2 shades lighter. When she was done my hair was bleach blond. I was too stunned at first and thought I would get used to it. By that evening I wasn't used to it and decided to dye it darker again. I went to the drug store and asked the person behind the cosmetic counter. I was impressed about how much she knew about hair dye. She recommended the all natural semi permanent dye. I used it and sure enough my hair was back to it's normal colour. I noticed over time that it's getting lighter again as the dye is washing out but it's not so drastic. I'll re-dye it again when it gets too drastic.
