Any suggestions on how I can change my hair to look more natural?

I have medium to dark brown hair and last night I decided I wanted to be blonde. I now look like a banana. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to make it look more natural. I used Clairol Born Blonde and I am wondering if a toning product would help.

just pick out a color that looks more like your natural color, dye it that, then it will grow out pretty much normal

Well know that you have done that you cannot use any more permenate dye for a couple of weeks. Buy a color rinse that is darker to make your hair look more natural. Note: a rinse is just that the more you wash it the less color will stay but you can use a rinse quite often

I honestly dislike Clairol for the very same reason. Try highlighing it, or use a hair color that creates a little bit of highlight. Try Garnier Nutrisse. The shades are great and not dull.

You're going to have to go to a salon. When they dye your hair (especially if they're doing blonde) they're not just using one color all over. You'd be surprised at just how many different shades go into a good blonde dye job-- it's the different levels that give it depth and make it look fantastic.

First congrats on the huge change- being a mom is tough and taking time to do something for yourself is great!

Second put your hair up in a pony (relaxed not too tight) for a few days and let your hair recover before you jump into a next step. A drastic color change at first always looks so different that you are likely to hate it, see everything wrong or just panic. So first give it a week keep your hir up to minimize shock when passing mirrors and give yourself and your hair time to adjust.

After a week if your still not happy then visit a salon for advice on adding high and low tone highlights. Beware they often cost more and take longer then just color but can make a big difference. If a salon is out of your price range then visit your local CVS or Drugstore and first get a great deep conditioning treatment for your hair and leave it on for at least 15 minutes when you are ready to color some home made high/low lights. Deep conditioning is VERY important since colors like blonde are very harsh and damaging to your hair so don't skip this step.

After a deep conditioning wait another 24 hrs and choose a highlight kit for a medium brown and get ready. For best results you want to start with some slightly darker low light under your top layer of hair. Mix only half of your color stuff in a small bowl and recap the remaining mixes. Section everything from your ear tops across the back and clip up, then section small 1 inch section and begin coloring from root down- don't saturate just remember color lightens as it growns so for a natural look dark at the root less color or just 'damp at the ends'. When you have this section done (not all hair should have color on it ) Move anothr 2 inches from above your ear down and repeat.

Do not leave on the full 20-30 mins stated, when done with teh color mixed so far wait 5-10 mins and rinse out!! The Blonde hair will absorb color faster and waiting too long will give you dark results you don't want.

When done wash with gentle shampoo and condition again for 10 mins. Blow dry the hair gently and check the effect. It should be subtle and a ponytail should showcase darker hair underneath that normal natural blondes typically have.

For the top sections you can use the remaining solution left to make small 1/4 inche sections by hand and go slow for a first time mix the color in small amounts- color leave on for 5 mins and rinse- top layers can be wropped with normal plastic wrap to keep color from bleeding onto nearby strands.

Yes you need a toner. Get a pale blonde with blue in the base, that takes away the yellow. Go to a beauty supply to get it. Bleaching it out is only the first step anyways. Don't worry.

i know that you might not want to hear this but you are going to have to let the sun change it to make it look natural, because dying it again is going to damage your hair...

Good Luck
